ABOUT US

Effective Altruism

Effective Altruism is a philosophy and social movement focused on answering one question: How can we best help others?

Resources are generally limited, so we should use them wisely when we do good.

Effective altruism is the project of:

  1. Using evidence and reason to find the most promising causes to work on.

  2. Taking action, by using our time and money to maximize our good-doing.

Effective Volunteering

Effective altruism can guide the path in many aspects, such as career paths, donations, etc. Volunteering is one of these aspects, and the guide we present here is meant to assist individuals in deciding how to volunteer according to the values and considerations of the Effective Altruism movement.

The guide

The guide was written by Karen Avner and Yael Vardi, members of the Israeli Effective Altruism community.

Contributors: Edo Arad, Ezra Hausdorff, and Gidi Kadosh.
